Chattanooga Getaway: Part 3

Sunday morning, after we had breakfast and checked out of the hotel, we headed to Rock City atop Lookout Mountain, which turned out to be our favorite attraction in Chattanooga.

Rock City is a rock trail that winds through grottos and glens, up crevices and along cliff ledges, while crossing and recrossing itself at different elevations. It is lined with bizarre rock formations, such as the 1,000- ton Balanced Rock, Needle's Eye and Fat Man's Squeeze. It features a fun Swing-a-Long Bridge, which hangs suspended over a deep gorge. And at the end of the trail there is Lover's Leap -- a spectacular observation point where you can supposedly see seven states as well as the High Falls of Lookout Mountain.

Rock City is a pretty neat place! We had a fun, relaxing, and enjoyable visit :)

Nearly 900 "See Rock City" barns were once painted in 19 states as advertising icons, but fewer than 100 remain today.

It was a little chilly when we arrived so we stopped at the Big Rock Grill for some hot chocolate before we began our walking tour along The Enchanted Trail :)

Headed through Needle's Eye ... we had to walk through some really narrow caves!!

Mushroom Rock

Viewing seven states at once -- Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama!

Seven States Flag Court

The Swing-a-Long Bridge, which Ryan wasn't the least bit afraid to walk across. The boy is fearless!!

The waterfall and Lover's Leap = breathtaking!

1,000- ton Balanced Rock ... amazing, huh?!?!

Emerging from the Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village :)

After finishing our walking tour, we stopped for some fudge at Rock City's Fudge Kitchen, made our way back to the car, and headed downtown again for a quick lunch at Sweet Peppers Deli before venturing over to our final attraction ... BUT I will save those details for one last post on Chattanooga so stayed tuned for Part 4 :)
