Take a Glimpse

Well, October is here ... a month I usually love because of the beautiful fall weather and fun fall activities, but this year, it is also a month full of change for our family. Thus, although the weather will surely be close to perfect as it always is this time of year, and our calendar is chalked full of fun fall activities, I have a strong inclination that October is going to be a bittersweet month this year! More to come on this later :)

This weekend, however, we were able to put everything else going on in our lives aside, and enjoy some special time with David's mom and brother, Joe. It was wonderful to be able to spend time with them both {and we really appreciate them coming to visit}!!!

Here is a glimpse into our weekend together ...

We had a nice dinner together at Greenwood's Restaurant on Friday night, and then headed back to our house for some Graeter's ice cream {Uncle Joe's fave, which you can now buy at Kroger} and a game of Rummikub.

On Saturday morning, we {minus Uncle Joe, who had to study} headed to the Alpharetta Scarecrow Harvest for a little while.

There were arts and crafts for the kids :)

And bounce houses ... Ryan's fave!

And lots of neat scarecrows :)

We then headed home to have lunch, rest/nap, watch football, and visit with each other.

Uncle Joe tried to let Ryan wear his cool helmet {he is a
helicopter pilot}, but Ryan wasn't a fan :(

Later that afternoon we ventured over to Stone Mountain to hike, picnic, and watch the laser show. This has been on our list of things to do all summer so we are glad we were finally able to do it, and enjoyed having Uncle Joe and Nana with us!

{All are welcome for the pictures to come -- just kidding, kind of :) We got about 3/4 of the way up the mountain before I tried to take a picture and realized that we didn't have the camera battery. You see, David has an obsession with charging things, and left the battery in the cup holder in the car on accident. So upon this realization, I ran back down to the car, got the battery, and hiked back up!}

Ryan climbed up the steepest part of the mountain all by himself!

It was very windy!!

In front of the memorial carving on the mountain which depicts three Confederate heroes of the Civil War: Confederate President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee and Lt. General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson.

And there you have a glimpse into our weekend :) -- with the exception of a yummy breakfast together this morning {which included Goetta from Cincinnati for the two grown boys} before saying our goodbyes until next time.
