We are thankful for ...

As Thanksgiving is less than a week away, David and I spent some time this weekend reflecting on those things that we are most thankful for. Here is what we came up with, in no particular order:
  • Ryan
  • Our jobs (the Army, tutoring, being able to be a stay-at-home mom)
  • Our health
  • Our families
  • Good friends
  • Hugs and kisses {especially those we get from the little guy}
  • Nourishment {David loves this word and uses it regularly -- mainly when talking about Coldstone ice cream}, and good food
  • God's blessings
  • Our five senses
  • Communication (phone, Internet, blog)
  • Insurance
  • Our safety
  • Our home
  • Time spent together as a family
  • The United States of America
  • Freedom
  • Family vacations
  • Warm clothes
  • Riley
  • Prosperity
  • Happiness
  • Reliable transportation
  • A good education
  • Fond memories
  • Good weather
  • Free baby-sitters {and a BIG thank you to all those who make this happen!!!}
  • Nice parks
  • Football

Then, using the list we brainstormed, we I made a very cute turkey centerpiece by (1) writing each thing for which we are thankful on a construction paper feather, (2) wrapping a big styrofoam ball in dark-brown yarn, (3) making another smaller ball out of light-brown yarn, (4) creating simple facial features out of felt, and (5) assembling everything together with glue and wooden craft sticks. Crafts are so much fun :) Here are a few pictures of the finished product. I love how it turned out!
